The 17th Annual Waterman Challenge Traditional Paddleboard Race will be held SATURDAY June 30th. This is a challenging 15-mile open ocean course down the coast of San Diego from Swamis to Windansea. The start will consist of a water start outside the surfline at Swamis Beach Park and the finish will be at the north end of Windansea Beach. There will be awards for the top three finishers in each division. This event continues to be a favorite among seasoned paddlers with its challenging course and the waterman spirit shared by all of the participants. We look forward to you joining us for this exciting event and challenge you to smash the previous years’ record.
Start:7:00am. Check in begins at 5:30am. You receive your participant t-shirt and race number at check-in.
Entry: $40 donation. Please pre-register before June 23rd. Beach entry is available. Entries include a waterman beanie, paddler only raffle and food and beverages at the finish.
Course: Swamis to Windansea hugging the coastline (~15 miles) Duration: How fast do you paddle? Weather/surf conditions will determine the finish location. Train smart and remember safety first. Lead escort boat available.
Divisions and Awards: Top three finishers in each division will earn an award. Stock: 12' and under, Unlimited: everything else, Women, Kapuna: 50+, Fourteen. The awards ceremony will be held at the finish at Windansea. Awards will be given out as soon as the last paddler has completed course.
Transportation: This is a point to point race so try and arrange for your own carpool/transportation from finish to Swamis. Drivers may be available to shuttle you back to Swamis or your vehicle to the finish. Free parking available at start and finish.
Directions to Swamis: 1. 5 North/South 2. Exit Encinitas Blvd. Go west towards ocean 3. South on Coast Highway 4. Stay on PCH through two stoplights and two stop signs 5. Swamis Beach park on right past Swamis Self Realization Center
